Name: Tio Plato
Canon: Trails Series
Canon Point: Post CS3
Age: 16
History: Here!
Personality:
❦Strengths❦
>>Resilience<<
Tio, is above everything else, resilient. When she was a child, she was kidnapped by the cult, and used for human experimentation. Even after the lodge she was being kept at was raided, she was the only survivor, supposedly being the only child at the time that could handle the mental load of the tests. At no point did she give up. After she returned home, realizing that things with her family would never be the same, she decided to carve her own path forward.
>>Intelligence<<
She is also extremely intelligent. When she ran away from home, she joined the Epstein foundation, a major scientific research organization her world. Throughout both Crossbell games (as well as her appearances in Cold Steel 3 and 4) she's shown to have a natural knack for dealing with technology. Part of it is due to her Aeon System, and the other part is thanks to her hard work. She understands how to set up and use computers (at least, the closest equivalent that her world has), and at several points in canon she's shown preventing hacking attempts on important networks.
>>Hardworking<<
Intelligence doesn't mean much on it's own, however, and one of Tio's other strengths is that she's hardworking. She was fourteen when she was assigned to the SSS, and despite being warned multiple times (and by many people) about how awful it would be to work for the brigade, she chose to stay on anyway. This is also apparent when the group chooses to walk to Armorica village; she's not accustomed to walking and it's clear it takes it's toll on her, but she chooses to press on instead of asking the group for a break.
>>Calm and Collected<<
Tio is calm and collected under pressure. When things go wrong, Tio doesn't panic. She's able to work through possible solutions logically, and doesn't let her emotions sway her into making poor split-second decisions.
❦Weaknesses❦
>>Communication<<
Tio struggles with communication (in a personal sense, not a mechanical sense), especially if it involves communicating worries or struggles. During one point in Zero, Tio admits that she's felt lost in life, with no clear goal, but she was afraid to say anything. She's also shown being very sensitive about her 'power.' The experiments left her with an above-average sense of hearing, allowing her to pick up on sounds others aren't able to hear. At first, she was afraid to talk about this--fearing that the others wouldn't take her seriously.
>>Emotions<<
A lot of her trouble communicating stems from repressing her struggles and emotions. She doesn't always express her concerns to others because she's often unaware of them herself (such as when she collapses during the Gnosis investigation). She also has a tendency to hide parts of her past or not bring up relevant information; she doesn't mention that Lloyd's brother, Guy, was the one who saved her from the lodge until they've worked together for at least a month. She also doesn't mention to the SSS that the same hospital they're investigating was the one she was once a patient at; the only reason the party finds out is because a nurse recognizes her and brings it up. When she does show emotions, they're often muted.
>>Childish<<
Tio is fine with most things, but if she has one pet peeve, it's people treating her like a child. Even though she is actually a child (she joins the SSS at 14), she has a wealth of experience, and she doesn't like being babied or doted on. This is apparent at several points in canon, where the other SSS members try to offer to do something to make it easier for Tio, but she rebukes them, asking them to treat her with the same amount of respect as the rest of the brigade.
❦Greatest Motivation❦
Tio struggled a lot with understanding her own motivation after being rescued from the lodge. She often wondered why she was the only one still alive, when all of the others that had been with her died.
To that end, Tio's motivation at the beginning of the game is to find that meaning herself. She doesn't know exactly what it is that she wants. Even though she returned home, that didn't help--she was still treated differently by her parents due to her enhanced senses and new powers.
By the end of Zero and Ao, her motivation has shifted. She hasn't found the meaning she's looking for exactly, although she's gotten closer. But her friends in the SSS and the city of Crossbell have become very important to her. After everything she's been through, it's the first place that felt like home. To that end, her motivation is to help protect and liberate Crossbell, and to reunite with her friends.
❦Mundane/Trivial Interests❦
As noted before, Tio is very skilled at computers. She enjoys playing with them in her free time, and as much as her world as video games, she would probably be considered a 'gamer' to some extent. She spends her free time browsing the Orbal Web, as well as playing a game called Pomtto!.
Tio's absolute favorite thing, however, is the mascot character Mishy. Tio knows everything about Mishy. Tio collects Mishy merchandise. When Lloyd has to don the Mishy mascot costume for a Mishy, Tio takes the counterpart costume, and helps to feed him lines and act the part. To Tio, Mishy is love. Mishy is life.
❦Interacting with Others❦
Tio is likely to interact with others in a new environment similarly to how she initially acted with the SSS. She can come off as cold and distant, although that's partially because she's analyzing the situation, and partially because she still struggles with communicating with others. Eventually, after working together, Tio is likely to become a little bit more forward, although she's still pretty quiet.
When she speaks, she's also very straightforward. She's not afraid to call an idiot an idiot, or question a party member's questionable actions (see: Anything that comes out of Randy's mouth). When she gets close to someone, she also has a tendency to be dry and sarcastic. When waking Lloyd up one morning, she asks if he would prefer to be woken up with a "Good morning, master~! <3" or a "I'm going to kick my lazy brother out of bed." Both comments are very dry sarcasm, and it shows.
Abilities:
>>Aeon System<<
Because of the experiments, Tio has access to an "Aeon System." It allows her to increase the potency on her magic attacks, as well as increase the range of her scanning abilities.
>>Enhanced Hearing:<<
Tio has enhanced hearing, allowing her to hear things that many people may miss. She can hear things from further away, and increase the range even more with her Aeon system.
>>Wolf-Speaking<<
Tio has the ability to speak to wolves. It is unclear whether this applies to all wolves, or only divine wolves. It is unclear if this applies to other animals.
>>Orbal Arts<<
When she has her orbament equipped, she has access to orbal arts. These are similar to spells one might see in Genshin Impact; the spells are typically elementally aspected (fire, earth, water, air) with three additional elements (space, time, mirage). Although there's a large degree of customization in the game (thus, Tio can learn any spell, essentially) her basic kit is balanced towards attack magic.
Inventory:
>> Clothing
>> Headband (This is her Aeon system unit, but I would like to keep it on her with the powers stripped. It's cute).
>> Mishy Keychain
>> Orbament (A Cell-Phone Like device that users can plug elemental quartz into to give them access to spells and powers. Initially, this will be useless, but it's a reminder of back home).
>> Photograph of the SSS.
Vision: Hydro
Reason: If she was taken before the beginning of Zero, I believe that Cryo would be the best fit. However, Tio was shaped in many ways by her time with the SSS. Before meeting the SSS, she didn't feel like she had a goal, other than finding a meaning in something. Now that she's grown closer to the SSS (and to Crossbell as a whole), she wants to protect it.
Additionally, while she can wield any element in her canon, she's most often-depicted being water or ice-aligned.
Role: Tio is a caster, specializing in magic (and not physical attacks).
In canon, she wields an orbal staff, that allows her to channel powerful arts. While she can use a variety of magic, her arts and crafts most typically lean towards attack magic making her more of a black mage than a white mage.
Constellation: ...Can her constellation be Mishy?
